This research addresses a challenge the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is encountering in its adaptation to Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0: the need to upgrade aircraft maintenance, particularly in terms of acquiring the necessary digital competencies among aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs). The RMAF exposes themselves to reduced performance and competitiveness because of skill deficiencies when technologies like fly-by-wire and computerization become increasingly complex. Thus, this study attempts to develop a comprehensive assessment framework based on digital competencies that fit the context of Industrial Revolution 4.0. The full literature review and methodology section will discuss the development of the Fuzzy-based survey assessment tool regarding the following points: problem-solving, communication, active learning, technical knowledge, analytical and critical thinking, technology skills and experience, and lesson learned. The research at hand will try to appraise the actual digital competencies of technicians by applying the fuzzy logic scoring method. In fact, it is expected to identify any gap in the competencies or training needs, meaning it will ensure a smooth way forward in enhancing the organizational efficiency and competitiveness in integrating RMAF into the IR 4.0 era.
