Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and group administration of CPT is one method of providing this treatment. Group CPT can be performed in group-only and combined group and individual formats, and research supports group CPT over other group treatments for trauma-exposed populations. Although some literature supports greater benefit of individual CPT over group CPT for PTSD symptoms, research on group and individual CPT are discussed in this chapter. There are multiple benefits of group CPT, including opportunities for group members to socialize and normalize emotions, along with cost and time savings for clinicians to maximize implementation of CPT. This chapter highlights clinical considerations for administering CPT in groups, including addressing emotion regulation difficulties, substance use, telehealth, trauma disclosure, common Stuck Points, group cohesion, and homework adherence. A case example of group CPT in this chapter illustrates common strategies and approaches to this format of treatment.

摘要
