Many of the bulk properties of polymers are intimately related to the flexibility of the polymer chains or the flexibility of chain segments as part of a complex polymer architecture. In this section, we investigate the statistical thermodynamics of individual chains by developing and applying various theoretical concepts. In addition, we discuss scattering and how it can be used to validate our theoretical models.
