The construction solutions employed in the building of the rural houses clearly manifest the skills acquired by the master builders through the field experience; the modus operandi, handed down over the centuries, was never codified in manuals, which were, moreover, hardly the prerogative of inland farmers and masons, and made use of both locally available materials and bio-climatic elements found in nature, such as sun, rain or wind. The resulting rural constructions manifested a clear respect for the criteria of availability of materials, economy of the construction process and overall environmental sustainability. This contribution, connected to a doctoral research focusing on the rural architecture of the Monte Somma ridge, through a case study, of which an instrumental survey has been drawn up, intends to emphasise the potential of an interdisciplinary dialogue that compares the data that emerged from the investigation of sources and in situ with those obtained using digital instruments, in order to extrapolate the necessary information to support the process of conservation, restoration and reuse of the architectural artefact, with a view to the transmission of its cultural values.
