The main goal of this paper is to present the results of an ongoing research on the vulnerability of existing masonry buildings exposed to rapid-kinematic landslides, with the aid of rigid block limit analysis. The area of interest for the study is the Amalfi Coast, located in the South of Italy, which is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list, and it is also severely exposed to landslide risk. The numerical analyses were conducted on a specific structural typology, the Amalfi Vaulted House, which is the original type of construction of the studied area, which strongly characterized the landscape of this territory. From the structural point of view, the Amalfi vaulted houses are particularly vulnerable to natural hazards, especially considering the increasing frequency of landslides. The paper presents the main steps of a large numerical investigation that was carried out using a non-commercial software, Dynablock_2D that executes dynamics, nonlinear static and limit analysis of masonry block structures. Starting from the construction of the numerical models, which takes into account the peculiarities of the masonry typology of the typical vaulted houses, the structural behaviour of a typical house cross section, subjected to vertical and landslides loads, is evaluated. The main output of the analysis are the collapse mechanism under given loads, the value of the external action that triggers the collapse mechanism, and/or the resulting pressure induced by the impact of the landslide is evaluated.
