The Blockchain Technology for Financial Inclusion of Smallholder Farmers in Africa
摘要
Blockchain is a recently developed technology, its applications are becoming increasingly popular in various use cases. This work focuses on the potential application of blockchain technology for the financial inclusion of smallholder farmers in Africa. Based on the analysis of World Bank Global Findex data, the results highlight the failures of Africa's present financial system and serve as a foundation for a discussion of possible blockchain solutions to lower the continent's current financial exclusion rate. Moreover, a case study of a blockchain pilot project in Kenya is examined to investigate this blockchain application.
