The chapter seeks to describe the initial transition of a research team based within the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) into the London Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), the statutory body that oversees the police. Whilst on the surface a simple move between organisations, this raised a series of far larger questions pertaining to evidence-based policing and questions on scale, flex, diversity, adaptability, and organisational willingness to pose challenging questions. Conversely, for the PCC the move instigated a more sophisticated evidential way of working to support the statutory role of the office, which necessitated the research staff to expand beyond their existing craft and silos. The chapter aims to present and reflect on this initial transition, documenting a move from evidence-based policing towards evidence-based oversight.

摘要
