On the Use of a Roving Harmonic Load to Locate Cracks in Shear Deformable Beam

In this work the classical vibration governing equations of the Timoshenko-Ehrenfest beam model are enriched with additional distributional terms to account for the presence of multiple cracks. The Green’s functions obtained as response to a concentrated load are presented and discussed. Finally, a novel crack location procedure based on the adoption of a “doublet load” is presented.
