This study explores the influential role of Iraqi satellite channels operating on social media platforms in fostering awareness and understanding of sustainable development among the Iraqi populace. With the pervasive impact of media in shaping public opinion, this research focuses on how these channels utilize digital platforms to enhance public knowledge on sustainable practices and policies. Through a comprehensive survey method targeting a diverse demographic within Baghdad, the study evaluates the extent to which social media content related to sustainable development is accessed and assimilated by the audience. Results indicate a significant engagement with these platforms, which in turn appears to correlate with heightened awareness and a better understanding of sustainable development concepts among the public. Moreover, the analysis suggests that while these channels are pivotal in disseminating information, there is room for improving the delivery and the depth of content to maximize impact. This research underlines the crucial role of media as a bridge between sustainable development goals and public comprehension, suggesting strategies for media outlets to enhance their contribution to societal awareness and education on sustainability issues. The findings also prompt media professionals and policy makers to refine content strategies to better serve educational objectives and public good, advocating for a more informed and proactive public participation in sustainable development initiatives.
