The working model is centered on an overall view of the person, where symptoms are valued but also the lived experience: the work is focused not so much on the psychic deficits to be repaired but on the resources, on the strengths and potential, even if in some cases they are reduced. The case is looked at giving appropriate importance to the individual’s past, to know the story of each one—everyone is their unique story and the sum of their memories—and to explore the roots and possible causes or co-causes. However, more than in the past, the focus of the work is on the “possible to be done” to overcome the current crisis, mobilizing hope, planning as much as possible one’s own future. This is achieved by leveraging one’s best memories, gathering strength looking forward. One of the central themes is “what can we do from now on despite what has happened?” BEP is based on communication skills of Empathy, Normalization and De-escalation-negotiation. This chapter presents the three different phases of an intervention (Heart, Head, Hands), body techniques, the project of recovery of meaning in life, and purposes in life. The major areas of intervention are stress-induced emotional crises, responses to life stress events in the settings of medical and psychiatric hospital (in-patients and consultation-liaison patients) and out-patients.

摘要
