Survey research has been widely adopted to gather descriptive and explanatory data from a population of interest. In the surgical field, surveys are often used to evaluate practice pattern of surgeons and the perceptions of key stakeholders. The design of high-quality surveys requires careful planning of its methodology to minimize bias and generate valid results. This chapter discusses a framework to approach survey design and critically appraise the methodology of survey research using a case example.

摘要

Survey research has been widely adopted to gather descriptive and explanatory data from a population of interest. In the surgical field, surveys are often used to evaluate practice pattern of surgeons and the perceptions of key stakeholders. The design of high-quality surveys requires careful planning of its methodology to minimize bias and generate valid results. This chapter discusses a framework to approach survey design and critically appraise the methodology of survey research using a case example.
