Good Practices to Protect Environmentally Internally Displaced Persons in Latin America
摘要
According to the 2022 Global Report on Internal Displacement—Internal Displacement and Food Security (IDMC 2023a), the number of internally displaced people (IDPs) has increased by around 20% in the world when compared to the previous year. The Americas have also followed the global trend, recording 2.6 million of IDPs in 2022. The Report calls attention to disasters in the Americas as one of the main causes (around 80%) of internal displacement. Considering Latin American countries, natural disasters, such as hurricanes, tropical storms, floods, and wildfires, have caused human displacement, in addition to violent conflicts. The chapter analyses Good Practices (Dunda 2022) as a tool to protect environmentally internally displaced persons (EDPs) in Latin American countries.
