Millions of people are affected by humanitarian crises each year. The process of aiding these individuals is complex, but has lasting physical, emotional, and social effects. These effects are further exacerbated by familial separation in displacement. Understanding the importance of genealogy across the globe, a better strategy for tracking records and reunification is critical to expediting healing from trauma. By leveraging existing genealogical platforms presently available in many countries worldwide, the reunification process could be significantly simplified and expedited. This application holds the potential to save lives and years of unnecessary trauma with only minor additions to the existing framework. Barriers to implementation include stringent monitoring of data use, storage, and security in hopes of addressing institutional mistrust and censorship. The sustainable life cycle of this intervention depends on the support of current technology platforms, but growth is nearly unlimited with the right global acceptance and application.
