Higher Education for Sustainable Development in South-East Asia: Problems, Values, Strategies and Practices
摘要
The chapter is dedicated to the philosophical consideration of the strategies of sustainable development and their implementation in the countries of the South-East Asia region. The authors discuss the major principles and contradictions of sustainable development, the latter being considered as the synergy of ecological, economic, and social vectors of the development of human civilization, and stress the role of universities in achieving such synergy. Special attention is given to sustainable development practices in HEIs in South-East Asia, as it is argued that the noted contradiction reveals itself there in the most clear way by the developing countries trying to achieve the ecologically destructive level of consumption.
