This chapter examines circular economy practices in the advanced biofuels sector, highlighting their capacity to enhance sustainability and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Advanced biofuels, derived from feedstocks that don’t depend on foods such as algae, waste, and agricultural residues, are presented as a promising alternative to fossil fuels, particularly for hard-to-electrify sectors. The integration of circular principles, such as waste recovery and resource optimization, enables the biofuel sector to maximize its environmental and economic benefits. By valorizing agricultural and industrial waste streams for biofuel production, the sector can not only reduce waste management problems but also ensure a continuous source of supply and sustainable development. However, the production of advanced biofuels are faced with some issues, such as high production costs and feedstock availability. This chapter also explores examples of successful implementation and excellent rewards that is in connection with the application of the sustainable system in an advanced biofuels sector. These examples illustrate the potential benefits of applying these principles, clearly explaining the sustainability and how relevant the approach could be.

摘要
