It begins by outlining the online global SDP conference that preceded this book, and the process of formulating chapters for this collection. It addresses the value of professional networks and reflects upon the contribution of each chapter. The work frames the challenges facing SDP practitioners and academics through notions of impact, decolonisation and evangelism. It examines the value of formative experiential learning, and outlines the current state of play in SDP. The work explores the pioneering scholarly influences of academic activists, and reflects upon some early peacebuilding projects, notably between 2002 and 2007, located in Northern Ireland, Israel and Russia. The chapter concludes by outlining potential future directions of SDP practice and research.
