Robotic Transabdominal Preperitoneal (r-TAPP) and Intraperitoneal Onlay Mesh (r-IPOM) Hernia Repairs for Ventral Hernias
摘要
With the significant increase in the incidence of ventral hernias requiring repair in the United States, an evolution has been seen over the past 20 years with a push toward robotic surgery. Both the robotic-assisted intraperitoneal onlay mesh (r-IPOM) and transabdominal preperitoneal (r-TAPP) approaches employ the surgical principles used in laparoscopy but with enhanced visibility and ergonomics. Robotic surgery continues to evolve as the need for surgical repair of complex hernias continues to increase.
