Transferring from a Different Specialty into Radiology
摘要
Switching from one specialty to another may seem complicated, but it is an entirely feasible and worthwhile pursuit for physicians needing a change. There are various reasons one might decide to switch to a different field of medicine, and every situation is different from the other. Commonly cited motivating factors for changing fields include lifestyle considerations, burnout in one’s current job, decreasing compensation despite higher patient volumes, and an increased administrative burden. Radiology has always been attractive for medical graduates and is a commonly selected destination for physicians looking to change their careers. Radiology is an appealing field due to its relatively controllable lifestyle, higher-than-average compensation, interesting pathology, procedural opportunities, and, for some, limited patient interaction. Changing areas has the potential to positively impact a physician’s career and restore their passion for medicine.
