Billing and Insurances, RVUs, and Other Revenue Streams
摘要
The radiologist’s report is the main product created for referring providers/patients’ reference and is critical in proper coding, billing, and reimbursement. Radiologists must document sufficient history with the help of other members of their team, including coders and technologists, to ensure studies are reimbursed. Part of the payment calculation includes a metric known as the wRVU, a specific value assigned to each radiologic research and used in productivity measurements in many practices. The emphasis on RVUs as the main driver of radiologist reimbursement may decrease as quality metrics become a larger part of medical reimbursement. Besides reading cases and performing procedures, radiologists can generate income through other streams, including clinic appointments and “side gigs” such as expert witness testimony.
