Nuclear medicine is a diverse, exciting, and rapidly evolving field. Nuclear medicine physicians and nuclear radiologists use radioactive materials and an understanding of medicine, physics, chemistry, and biology to diagnose disease across multiple imaging modalities and many patient populations. As one of the patient-facing fields of radiology, nuclear medicine leverages physiology and pathophysiology to diagnose and treat disease via precision medicine and targeted radiopharmaceuticals. With the FDA approval of multiple new diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides in the past five years, and many more on the horizon, nuclear medicine is an ideal field for physicians who desire a dynamic career of lifelong learning and varied clinical practice. This chapter will review the combined diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine training pathways.

摘要
