Screening and Solubilization Effect of Siloxane-Degrading Bacteria Enhanced by Surfactants

In this article, the gas-liquid mass transfer efficiency of hexamethyldisiloxane (L2) was improved by adding surfactants, and its removal rate was increased. Lauryl dimethyl amine oxide (OB-2), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), Octylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (OPE) and Tween-80 surfactants were screened from three aspects: the solubilizing emulsification ability of Hexamethyldisiloxane, foam stability and toxicity to degrading bacteria. Finally, Tween-80, which has strong solubilizing emulsification ability, good foam stability and is non-toxic to the degrading bacteria, was selected to carry out follow-up enhanced degradation research. Tween-80 can be used as a carbon source for the growth and metabolism of degraded bacteria, but as a carbon source alone, it has no obvious effect on the growth of degraded bacteria. After the addition of Tween-80, the removal rate of the degraded bacteria in mixed culture was 86.31%, which was 5.69% higher than that in culture without surfactants.
