This chapter examines censorship on the Russian stage in relation to the Putin regime’s manipulation of historical narratives and World War II for neo-colonial and proto-fascist ideological propaganda, which has directly contributed to the war in Ukraine. The first example discussed is a 2014 controversy surrounding Mikhail Durnenkov’s play Dreams About War, written for the Taganka Theater in Moscow and directed by Yuri Muravtisky as Victory Day. The second example is Anastasia Patlay’s documentary theater project Tango Morgen, Tango Pli, which premiered in September 2020 at the Novosibirsk Globus Theater.

摘要
