This chapter presents major conceptual, historical, and theoretical premises of the book by providing a chapter roadmap and commenting on the authors’ methodologies for data collection and analysis. This challenging task proved even more difficult as the authors navigated the complexities of researching and writing about theater censorship in a country that has invaded its neighbor and tightened control over its citizens’ daily lives, freedom of expression, and access to information.
