Homogeneity and Trend Analysis of Seasonal Precipitation Data: A Case Study in Kızılırmak Delta (Samsun, Bafra), Turkey

Determining the seasonal change in precipitation is critical for water supply planning, flood control, water resource management, ecological sustainability, and economic growth. This study investigates the relationship between trend analysis and homogeneity analysis. The well-known Mann–Kendall (MK) methods in trend analysis and standard normal homogeneity test (SNHT) methods in homogeneity analysis were applied in the EasyFit software, considering the p test at 95% of the confidence interval. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the precipitation changes showed seasonally homogeneous and non-significant decreasing trends. Although the annual trends did not show a trend, its homogeneity deteriorated in 2012. The 2012 year is a critical year for the region. In 2012, a great flood occurred in the region, and many people lost their lives, and economic losses were experienced. For this reason, detecting this change with SNHT is important in terms of showing the change in the dataset of the event.
