Tourism has been a vital sector for Portugal in recent decades and is an important source of revenue and jobs for the economy. In fact, it contributes significantly to the economy, but also promotes the tangible and intangible heritage of the regions. It also boosts interconnected sectors such as hotels, restaurants and transport, among others. This research endeavours to understand specifically what impacts tourism has on a particular region, Vila do Conde. Methodologically, an online questionnaire was applied to the residents of this city in order to understand the impacts that tourism has created in terms of economic, social, environmental and cultural aspects. The results showed that residents consider tourism to be an asset for the region, but that local authorities should be concerned especially environmental and cultural impacts.
