Trombones
摘要
This chapter explains the anatomy of the trombone and the functioning of the trombone slide. Sections describe tenor, bass and contrabass trombones, also trombones used in historically informed performance: romantic trombones and sackbuts. Valve trombones are mentioned briefly. The phenomenon of the trombone ‘pedal note’ and why it is anomalous is examined. The chapter concludes with a discussion of vibration of the bell and other parts of brass instruments.
