The synthesized palynofacies origin and depositional environment of particulate organic matter demonstrate the geologic concept of ‘space’ in the origin and deposition of sedimentary rocks and igneous pedogenesis. The quality and quantity of kerogen particles are products of depositional environment theorized and practicalized in the concept of ‘space’ in defining the origin (evolution) of geologic processes. The space concept upholds the abundance and hydrodynamics quality of the visual palynofacies elements substantiated by the abundance of relatively well-preserved yellow and dark brown amorphous organic matter, marine taxa, opaque particles, with few dark brown structured phytoclasts and terrestrial palynomorphs. The palynofacies components illustrates the dynamic paleoenvironment of transitional marine settings of the inner neritic zone with intermittent outer neritic influences consistent with estuarine, nearshore and freshwater environments based on the normal varied quality and quantity of palynofacies constituents and profusion of land-derived microflora over marine dinoflagellate cysts for the Enugu Formation. The depositional array of the Danian lithostratigraphic unit sediments indicates shallow marine settings with deep marine influenced macro environments, embedded as products of lower and upper deltaic plains with similar variable palynofacies standard inherent in the Enugu Formation. Palynofacies elements suggest a thermally mature Type II–III kerogen indicative of oil and gas-prone hydrocarbons for the formations. The kerogen types are conceptualized in the oil seepages and natural gas flare within the Anambra Basin.
