The Relationship Between Mobile Phone Addiction and Sleep Quality in Young Adults

Addiction to cell phone is a big problem that is seen in the youth in this era. Due to this, many physical and psychological problems are developing in young people. The current study analyzes the relationship between cell phone addiction and quality of sleep amid young adults aged 18–40, who own a mobile phone. The study employed a quantitative approach which included a sample of 188 participants, (60 males and 128 females), selected through a combination of snowball technique and convenience sampling. The data was collected using the questionnaire method. The results reveal a positive correlation between inordinate smartphone usage and disturbed sleep patterns. This research uncovers significant insights into understanding the impact of technology on sleep patterns, thereby addressing a pertinent aspect of contemporary lifestyle and health. The mean and standard deviation for the Smartphone Addiction Scale is 59.61 and 14.291, respectively, while for the Sleep Quality Scale, they are 36.95 and 10.563, respectively.
