The Transformative Role of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things in Advancing Sustainable Development Goals: A Civil Engineering Perspective
摘要
This study explores the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from a civil engineering perspective. Literature review was conducted to gather insight into the application of AI and IoT in different sectors. The review process involved selection of relevant peer-reviewed articles, followed by thematic analysis to identify key trends, applications, and impacts. The review synthesized findings from a diverse array of studies, providing evidence of the significant contributions of AI and IoT technologies to address complex global challenges and contribute towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. These technologies can optimize resource utilization, streamline processes, and enhance decision-making progress in various SDGs. The emerging nature of AI and IoT technologies presents a limitation as there is still a lack of in-depth applications and research, which limits the depth of analysis and insights provided in this review. The paper provides insights for civil engineers, policymakers, and researchers on the potential of AI and IoT to drive sustainable development in various sectors, from optimizing energy to fostering smart cities. This review offers a novel perspective by focusing on the transformative role of AI and IoT in advancing the SDGs and their potential impact from civil engineering perspective, which is a topic that is under-explored in current literature. It adds to the existing literature by highlighting specific applications of AI and IoT and their contributions to sustainable development.
