The Impact of Self Esteem, Personality and Sensation Seeking on Financial Risk Tolerance of Retail Investor-An Empirical Evidence from India
摘要
Financial Risk Tolerance (FRT) is the ability of an individual investor to accept the loss on his investments, or adverse variations in their values or unexpected outcomes. To attain pre-defined objectives and provide the relevant decisions on investment, wealth diversification, and other matters in finance, it is essential to understand and measure FRT. It can influence the client–investor relationship if the investor is agitated due to an imbalanced FRT. Apart from the differences at individual levels, predisposing factors also exist in demographics, environment and psychosocial elements to make quantify the FRT. FRT perspectives other than finance, such as economics, psychology, and biosociology are considered in this study. This study is based on a single cross-sectional survey design that measures the interaction and influence of self-esteem, personality traits, and sensation-seeking behavior with financial risk tolerance (FRT). As per the purposive sampling techniques, the data are collected from 485 retail investor through a structured questionnaire in Bengaluru, India. Finally the results concluded that self-esteem, personality, and sensation-seeking have their impacts on financial risk tolerance.
