The first and vital objective of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal is to prevent poverty among all nations. India is consistently working towards seventeen goals and regressively frames policy for the removal of poverty since 1991. Based on this background, this study has two major objectives such as to emphasize the significance of globalisation policy in India since the economic reform and to analytically review the economic impacts of globalisation on removal of poverty and economic development. This analytical review paper examines the various advantages of the globalisation policies of the government of India and critically evaluates the impacts of globalisation on the removal of poverty through new foreign direct investments and global partnerships. To achieve these important objectives, the present study followed a descriptive method to design the paper. This study adopted the review-based analysis to identify and address the impact of globalisation on industries, agriculture and service sectors. To achieve the targeted objectives, the secondary data relating to India’s gross domestic product for the post-reform period has been collected and presented. Secondary data was sourced from the Indian Statistical Office, Government of India. The level of employment in the industrial sector has improved dramatically. MNCs are growing and generate employment of both skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workforces in India. It also enhanced female work participation in the industrial sector. Economic reforms have achieved their target of reducing poverty and inequality. Improved employment opportunities by exporting agricultural and industrial commodities helped achieve this. On the whole, the liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation practices supports the Indian economy in a positive way in reducing poverty.
