Currency Dynamics in Determining the Prices of Precious Metals in the Domestic and International Markets: A 52-Year Analysis
摘要
This study investigates the correlation between the prices of gold and silver in local and international markets over the course of the last 52 years, spanning from 1971 to 2023, and currency exchange rates. The RBI, Bloomberg, Bombay Bullion Association, and Press Trust of India were the sources of the information. The ways in which variations in exchange rates impact the pricing of various precious metals are examined through the application of descriptive analysis, regression, and correlation approaches. The analysis covers the following major currencies: SDR, US Dollar, Japanese Yen, Pound Sterling, and Deutsche Mark/Euro. The findings show that there are notable positive connections between the exchange rates and the prices of gold and silver in the Mumbai and London markets. The findings of the research emphasis the need for policies that reduce the effects of fluctuations in exchange rates on the gold and silver market for decision-makers.
