Modeling and Creating a Geoportal for Managing Drinking Water Networks: Ben M’sik Urbain’s Group Greater Casablanca as a Case Study

The goal of this study is to model a drinking water network and provide a novel geomatics 13 solution to control it using an efficient mechanism: lizmap, an Open Source webGIS application, the 14 most popular and well-known free, also a plugin used with QGIS to publish maps online. The join 15 of QGIS and Lizmap guarantees an easy way to create a free and open-source Web-GIS. Due to 16 technical issues with water supply and the growth of the population concentration in the urban 17 grouping of Ben M’sik District of the city of Casablanca, sustainable management, optimization of 18 the performance of the drinking water system, and reduction of losses, have generated a variety of 19 strategies for exploiting existing geoportal-based technologies for managing these networks and 20 their intervention orders. By utilizing these applications, Casablanca might enter the ranks of intel- 21 ligent cities. Only management using geomatics solution by creating a geoportal for the administra- 22 tion of drinking water that is capable of addressing these issues can improve knowledge of the drinking water equipment as well as the detection of disorders that occur, the simulation of opera- 24 tions, the design of extensions, the decision-making to the location choice and future situation of the 25 network.
