High-Frequency Trading (HFT) represents a significant leap in financial market technology, utilizing advanced algorithms and ultra-fast data networks to execute trades in milliseconds. This evolution has not only transformed the dynamics of financial markets but has also reshaped the strategic operations of smart businesses. In this study, we investigate the dual impact of HFT on market volatility and foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly in the context of rapidly evolving technological environments. Through the use of sophisticated algorithmic trading strategies, HFT has introduced increased liquidity and market efficiency but also introduced risks, notably in terms of short-term volatility. Our research employs regression analysis to examine the intricate relationships between HFT activity, market volatility, and FDI inflows. Findings suggest that while HFT plays a role in boosting market efficiency, its propensity to heighten short-term volatility can discourage FDI inflows. The study thoroughly explores the implications for smart businesses, stressing the importance of regulatory frameworks that can mitigate HFT-induced volatility without stifling its potential benefits, ensuring a balanced and sustainable financial ecosystem.
