Mapping the Field of Open Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research via Bibliometric Analysis

This study used VOSviewer software to analyze the context of research on open innovation and entrepreneurship, using a bibliometric study. Data was collected from articles published between 2006 and 2023 and indexed in Scopus. This analysis shows a growing interest in open innovation and entrepreneurship, with significant contributions from authors such as Vanhaverbeke, W., Belitski, M. and Bogers, M., also identifies USA, Spain and United Kingdom as the main countries contributing in this field, as well as highlighting themes including publication trends and theme groupings. The analysis also demonstrates the emergence of new trends such as the combination of open innovation and entrepreneurship, the need for governance for sustainable innovation, the main ecosystem’s role in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. Finally, our results offer valuable guidance on how open innovation and entrepreneurship are evolving, providing some directions for the future research and practice.
