The improvement of software engineering practices, particularly in the field of software testing, requires an understanding of the historical evolution and current trends in testing methodologies. In this work, we present a bibliometric analysis of articles related to software testing in classical approaches, specifically for the waterfall and the V models. Previous works have addressed different testing methodologies, but a specific analysis of bibliometric trends on these models has not yet been widely explored. In this study, we examine articles indexed in the Scopus database and published between 2015 and 2024. We then use Biblioshiny tools from the Bibliometrix package in R along with VOSviewer, in order to construct and visualize our search results. This method was used to identify research trends, relevant authors, articles, countries as well as emerging topics. The results obtained show that India is the leading country in terms of scientific contributions, with the highest number of publications, closely followed by Indonesia. In addition, there has been a decrease in the number of articles published per year regarding this topic, with notable peaks in certain years. Throughout this analysis, we focus on highlighting the contributions made in the field of classical software testing, providing valuable insights for testers, software engineers, and researchers, in order to help guide them in their future studies and research.
