Technologies are unlocking new pathways for rapid economic growth, innovation, job creation, and access to services in Africa. Emerging technologies promise to reduce the costs of undertaking research, offer endless opportunities for innovations and present opportunities to catch up with leading nations. These technologies can enable economic transformation in Africa and help create more jobs for its people. They are transforming all elements of the continent's economy – from education to healthcare, agriculture to telecommunications. This paper highlights the opportunities and challenges of implementing emerging technologies in Africa. It will unpack what some of the economies in Africa have achieved in terms of emerging technologies.
