The coverage of the eyes and ears when bullying is in earshot or is visually observed is unhealthy for the person observing or hearing someone else being bullied in the workplace. Intentional ignorance, while done by the observer to self-protect, can lead to secondary trauma. It is the opening of the eyes and listening when another person is being harmed that ultimately opens the observer to advocacy and the telling of the truth in absence of fear of becoming a bully’s new target.
