This study investigates the prominence of physics topics in the first cycle of education within the Italian school system and examines whether physics receives less emphasis compared to other scientific disciplines. Additionally, it explores the correlation between the importance teachers attribute to various topics and their perceived preparedness to teach these topics. To achieve these objectives, we devised two questionnaires and administered them to a sample of approximately 600 individuals, representative of the Italian school teacher population. Through this analysis, we aim to provide insights into the status of physics education within the Italian school system and identify potential areas for improvement in teacher training and curriculum development.
