The rapid growth in technology has led to the manufacturing of many technological products and gadgets, making them overly abundant that an oversupply and shortage situation occurs in most aspects of the modern world. There is a country where much food goes to waste, while others have too many electronics; some countries do not have enough food and electronic supplies to sustain their needs. This created quite an imbalance and inefficiency. Collection and reuse or reprocessing of the waste products of different companies are also not satisfactory. This is the area where SCM can contribute significantly to developing the reusability and reprocessing potential of used products. Companies need to redesign supply chains in light of a circular economy that creates value out of waste by way of reusing and recycling products. However, the competencies of the employees required for such business models have remained largely unmanaged. In that respect, in this paper, a full taxonomy of skills that companies need to move towards a circular economy business model has been presented. Research into the contribution that supply chains can make to the circular economy is only just starting to take place and is in its early stages. As a result, the chapter illustrates the place of supply chains in a conceptual and broader framework that puts them at the center of it all. This conceptual framework now calls for purposed and detailed discussion on how exactly supply chain practices position themselves in enabling the effective implementation of circular-economy practices. The chapter also identifies areas of convergence that could foster cooperation among scholars and practitioners in the fields of Supply Chain Management, Circular Economy, and related disciplines.
