The significance of packaging extends beyond mere aesthetic appeal, serving as a protective measure for products during transit and storage. The choice of packaging materials, ranging from glass and paper to tin and plastic, is product-specific. Nonetheless, the ecological footprint left by packaging waste has emerged as a pressing issue. In response to increasingly stringent environmental regulations, there is a mounting demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions. This study introduces a novel method for selecting sustainable packaging materials, integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with Multi-criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques. The methodology involves a dual-phase analysis: first, evaluating eight environmental impact categories through the Impact 2002++ method, and subsequently, utilizing MCDM to assess the performance of nine different packaging materials. The findings highlight the utility of this integrated approach in fostering sustainable practices and bolstering supply chain robustness within the framework of Industry 5.0.
