This chapter presents how Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools are revolutionising the existing educational praxis. Multimodal GAI, such as text, images, video, and games, are improving interaction skills in classrooms, promoting interculturality, and creating a more playful and engaging educational environment. Qualitative analyses have emphasised its capacity to stimulate learning processes and have proposed innovative applications in the field of teacher education, showing significant improvements also in students’ learning outcomes in cognitive and affective domains, enhancing flow experiences. However, it is essential to acknowledge that GAI applications, despite offering personalised tutoring, automated essay grading, language translation, and interactive and adaptive learning, have certain limitations. These include a lack of human interaction, limited understanding and creativity, and biases in the training data. Therefore, careful implementation and oversight are necessary to address these drawbacks effectively. In this sense, game-based learning platforms with generative AI are designed to improve digital literacy by providing engaging and interactive experiences. Although these initiatives hold potential, they necessitate additional refinement and assessment before they can be practically implemented. Although AI presents remarkable prospects, it necessitates diligent supervision to guarantee its responsible and efficient incorporation into educational frameworks.
