This chapter posits that the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) for creative purposes hinges on the development of appropriate interfaces. Such interfaces must be dynamic and adaptable, capable of responding to humans holistically rather than relying solely on language-based prompts. This chapter explores emerging trends in the landscape of human–computer interaction and creativity, underscored by cutting-edge advancements in generative AI revealing the dynamic interfaces reshaping user experiences. The chapter explores how creatives are using new modes of engaging with AI to shape new forms of creative expertise. Here, we survey several artists using novel modes of AI interaction to facilitate the creative process. In particular, the artists featured here are making strides towards incorporating biological data to redefine the paradigms of creative human–computer interaction through visualisation and technologies such as EEG and BCIs. Culminating in a forward-looking perspective, the chapter ends by envisioning the future design of adaptive and biologically informed AI systems for creative settings.
