In this chapter, I embark on a reflective journey through the evolving landscape of human–computer creativity, drawing on over 25 years of experience in digital arts. My essay explores my nuanced collaboration with artificial intelligence as a concept and technology, challenging the traditional view of computers as mere tools and highlighting the dynamic, symbiotic relationship that now exists. Through personal anecdotes, including the development of multimodal projects augmented by Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Large Language Model (LLM) algorithms and through speculative collaborations with my avatar C.A.R.L.A. G.A.N. (Crossplatform Avatar for Recursive Life Action Generative Adversarial Network), I examine the implications of AI in redefining creativity and the potential for a future where art transcends human and machine dichotomies. Addressing the intersection of AI with art, education, and mixed reality, the essay advocates for a critical, intentional approach to AI collaboration, where the unique ‘special sauce’ of individual perspective and lived experience remains central to the creative process.
