Artificial Intelligence: Applications in Global Health Radiology
摘要
Implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in under-resourced healthcare settings can radically reshape efforts to reduce the healthcare disparity gap. This chapter examines the use of AI in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and under-resourced areas by introducing key technologies used in radiology. It reviews a brief history of AI in healthcare, an overview of common terminology, and practical considerations regarding AI implementation. Ethical considerations, governance, capacity building, and challenges are discussed while highlighting core factors associated with fostering the implementation of AI into healthcare. The chapter reviews RAD-AID AI strategies using the three-pronged Teach-Try-Use approach and AI implementation checklist. Finally, the chapter reviews partnering with government and local healthcare facilities to build public trust and acceptance through sustainable practices.
