Wastewater Treatment Based on Microalgae Bioremediation
摘要
Wastewater is a combination of organic and inorganic components; some of them can be considered nutrients, while others have toxic potential; therefore, the elimination of hazardous substances is crucial to guarantee the safety of living beings and the environment, as well as complying with international regulations in this matter. There are several methods for treating wastewater; among them, microalgae emerge as ecological and effective options. This chapter discusses the nature of wastewater and conventional treatment methods compared to microalgae systems. In addition, some applications are presented, and the advantages and challenges of microalgae bioremediation are also considered.
