Microalgae are being studied due to their potential for a wide range of applications, such as the ability to capture and sequester carbon dioxide and convert it into organic compounds used to produce various products. In recent years, the combination of microalgae and nanotechnology has led to the development of innovative approaches like creating high-value products and has been studied in several different ways across various industries, such as the production of biodiesel and bioethanol, to name a few. This work aims to provide a comprehensive review of the main aspects of microalgal applications in nanotechnology, mainly as a potential for bioproduct obtention and nano-compounds synthesis.
