Microalgae can produce bioactives that are interesting to be incorporated in cosmetics. Commercial uses for microalgae and their products are new trends after the COVID-19 pandemic in the search for renewable ingredients. This chapter focused on cosmetic and nutricosmetic applications of the main classes of microalgae. The physical and chemical characteristics and biological potential of carotenoids, vitamins, and fatty acids derived from microalgae are analyzed. Also, the benefits and challenges of the technology involved in the harvest and extraction regarding large-scale and susta 121inable processes were discussed. Finally, the current and future perspectives on using microalgae in cosmetics are presented.
