Disrupting the Aesthetic Spaces with Cloned Voices
摘要
This chapter discusses some concrete cases of how GenAI has disrupted aesthetic spaces in connection to voice cloning. The chapter continues to use voicing as a key metaphor for GenAI’s impact, applying its lens specifically to music-making and other sound-intensive arts. Flagship GenAI voice models effectively bridge the gap between machine and human voicing, introducing timbral agencies that have the potential to transform aesthetic realms that human agents once exclusively inhabited. While the results might border on the uncanny, they may also manifest new forms of human-machine collaborations, thus paving the way for new cultural and artistic practices.
