This chapter draws from a qualitative study examining the experiences of 13- to 18-year-old teenage girls’ perceptions of and experiences with online image-sharing practices. Specifically, I examine how teenage girls navigate the heterosexual, gendered and phallocentric aspects of harassment and abuse in digital settings. The chapter focuses on sexy selfies and girls’ experiences of objectification and harassment. Next, I address the sending of nudes to boys and men and girls’ sexual risk including blackmail and reputational damage. I also draw attention to girls’ encounters with unsolicited dick pics and men who masturbate. These three themes come together to illustrate the ways in which girls’ experiences reinforce phallocentric power relations and hegemonic masculinity continue to curtail girls’ digital lives.
